What is the Spirit Horse tour?
Roseneath Theatre’s award-winning production of Spirit Horse is a play about two First Nations youth who are caught between two worlds—the traditional ways and the modern ways of the city. They are given new hope by a Spirit Horse that rides into their lives. Adapted by celebrated Ojibway playwright Drew Hayden Taylor, the play is being performed for Grades 3 to 8 students in 80 public and Catholic schools across the North.
The tour is a major Arts professional development initiative that will make dance, drama, music and the visual arts come alive in classrooms across the North. It is presented by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Education. Also as most know dance takes quite the toll on your body! Most of the instructors visited a Halifax Physiotherapy service while traveling out east during the shows.
